This project bridges digital and analog techniques to frame homoerotic desire as a form of eros often caught between the immaterial world of the image and the physical one of the body. This hyrbidization foregrounds the multifaceted ways in which eroticized and gendered images – in this case those of statues, drawings, and engravings of the hypermasculine Hercules – are built up and broken down using a visual vocabulary that slips back and forth between clarity and obfuscation, fluidity and rigidity, being close at hand and out of reach.
